Curriculum Vitae
Dr. Matthias Söffing studied law at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms University of Bonn, where he passed the first state law examination. He successfully completed his legal clerkship in the district of the Düsseldorf Higher Regional Court. After a brief stint at a tax law firm in Cologne, Dr. Matthias Söffing joined the North Rhine-Westphalia State Tax Administration, where he served as department head for several divisions. He later moved to the tax judiciary, where he was appointed a judge on the Tax Court. From there, he was seconded for several years to the Federal Fiscal Court in Munich as a research associate. Afterward, Dr. Matthias Söffing returned to the legal profession, practicing for approximately 10 years as an international partner at an internationally active consulting firm. In 2002, he left that firm and founded the law firm that is S&P Private Clients today. In the meantime, he earned his doctorate in law (Dr. iur.).
The focus of Dr. Matthias Söffing’s legal practice lies in succession planning for private individuals and family-owned businesses, with an emphasis on real estate assets and the use of private domestic and foreign foundations.
In addition to giving numerous lectures and serving as a lecturer at Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf, Dr. Matthias Söffing has also distinguished himself through extensive publications.
